I paint in a representational style in the mediums of watercolor and pastel. I feel that watercolor and pastel are perfect alternate mediums, allowing me to exploit the transparency and fluidity of watercolor but use pastel for subjects with textural aspects so difficult to achieve with watercolor. I enjoy painting many subjects, the play of light being the unifying theme. I grew up in Quincy, Massachusetts, but have lived many places. After earning a B.A. and Law degree at the University of Minnesota, I spent many years as a lawyer. In 1995 while visiting Camden, Maine, I came upon books on how to paint in watercolor. My husband insisted on buying me an instruction book and a few basic supplies, and I painted in my spare time. Upon retirement in 2002, I took up painting in a serious way. My work has appeared in various venues including Concord Art Association, the Guild of Boston Artists, the Connecticut Pastel Society and the New England Watercolor Society. I am a member of the Concord Art Association, Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, the American Watercolor Society, the Sudbury Art Association, Lexington Arts and Crafts Society, and Arts Wayland. In 2015 I became a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society.
