Lesson: Matthew 21:33-42
Message: “God’s Response is Life!”
Pumpkin Patch is coming this week! After many preparations, we’re confident that we can make this work for our fundraiser, while also keeping people safe amidst the pandemic. I am certain that the pumpkins on our lawn will be meaningful to our neighbors and local community as a colorful sign that life continues, that seasons are changing, and that we continue to support one another.
We will have a brief worship (about 10 minutes) together to bless the pumpkins and our work together. That will be this Saturday at noon. Directly to follow, we’ll unload the pumpkins and set up for Pumpkin Patch together. Notice the time change – our pumpkin blessing will be just before we begin work. You can RSVP for the blessing here, if you are not able to participate in unloading (although we really hope that if you’re coming you’ll be able to join us for both and there will be much to do even if lifting pumpkins isn’t your thing) – https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSejT1ljy1bpNn_KUaZ8nfaG47-IiToQ–fTqQVPQ3ZNKdakrA/viewform?usp=sf_link.

Sunday’s worship will be a celebration in many ways. In addition to celebrating the start of Pumpkin Patch, we’ll also welcome people into new membership at UPA! We’ll have a moment in the service to bless them and to celebrate this affirmation of their faith and belonging! Our membership service is well timed with World Communion Sunday, a moment to acknowledge that we are connected together with believers from all around the globe.
To celebrate this communion, bring elements with you of bread, crackers, pita, sticky buns, etc. and some juice, wine, water, or even coffee. We’ll bless these together during the service. Note that if you are on Zoom, we’ll plan on showing the group together, so if you do not want to be on the Facebook broadcast, you may wish to join us via Facebook instead, or to blank your camera during the offering time.
