Lesson: Acts 17:22-31
Message: Images of Life
I pray that you are well and that you are weathering this difficult time. It’s strange to look at the calendar and realize that we’ve been living in a world that is profoundly changed for a couple of months now. It’s been an interesting reminder about how much the church is the people and not the building, but it’s also been challenging because we’ve not been able to gather together as people. I am missing seeing people during our Sunday morning gatherings, and checking in with you at meetings. As this drags on, and life continues to change and present new challenges, I am aware that there are many of you who are missing this as well. Please feel free to shoot me an email if you’d like to chat (email@example.com). Or you can call the church and get my extension. If I’m not able to pick up when you call, I’ll be getting back to you soon.
This week, we will continue with our series on images. I laughed this week when I looked at the lectionary and read through the text from Acts. Paul preaches to the people of Athens and says, “Since we are God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of mortals.” Paul offers up some images of how God intersects with life. I hope that these will speak to us in this time when it feels like the only way to interact with other people is through a screen on an electronic device. I pray that God will speak to us and give us that which is full of life!

Online Worship Tech Issues
We will start our live streams about 10 minutes prior to the worship start time. During this moment you will hear silence, but see rotating pictures of art that our children and youth have made to share with us. Facebook is clearly having some issues keeping up with the demands of every congregation moving to worship online. Thanks for being patient during this time of sudden transition! Here are some tips if you’re having trouble:
First, try reducing the quality level in Facebook – On the video window highlight over the “resolution” along the bottom right corner of the video player to select a different bandwidth option. This may take a moment to update within your browser.
Next, you can also try using your phone instead. Some people have had more luck using the app than connecting on their computers.
If that doesn’t work, here are some other options:
1. Try a different internet browser (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and also close unnecessary tabs on your browser.
2. Try updating your internet browser
3. Try restarting your computer
4. Try restarting your modem or router
5. Try updating your flash player
