Lesson: 1 Peter 2:2-10
Message: Images of Jesus
This week we continue our series on images, and we’ll look at images of Jesus. Our text for Sunday is the epistle selection from the lectionary and it presents a rich image of Christ as a cornerstone or “living rock”. Drawn from many quotations from Hewbrew scripture, 1 Peter presents a vivid picture of Jesus as the solid foundation that we rest on. We’ll look at some pictures that tease this out a little bit, and wrestle with our own images of Jesus and what they mean for our faith. Doesn’t it feel like we need a solid foundation in this time of uncertainty?
On Sunday, we’ll also take communion together. Bring some bread and juice or wine to worship to participate in this meal.
And, it’s also Mother’s Day! We’re gathering pictures of us with cards for our moms, grandmothers, or maternal figures in our lives that you’d like to celebrate. Make a card or a message and take a picture with it to send in to firstname.lastname@example.org by Saturday at noon and we’ll feature this in a slideshow at the start of the service. This is for children as well as adults. All are welcome to participate.

Online Worship Tech Issues
We will start our live streams about 10 minutes prior to the worship start time. During this moment you will hear silence, but see rotating pictures of art that our children and youth have made to share with us. Facebook is clearly having some issues keeping up with the demands of every congregation moving to worship online. Thanks for being patient during this time of sudden transition! Here are some tips if you’re having trouble:
First, try reducing the quality level in Facebook – On the video window highlight over the “resolution” along the bottom right corner of the video player to select a different bandwidth option. This may take a moment to update within your browser.
Next, you can also try using your phone instead. Some people have had more luck using the app than connecting on their computers.
If that doesn’t work, here are some other options:
1. Try a different internet browser (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, etc.) and also close unnecessary tabs on your browser.
2. Try updating your internet browser
3. Try restarting your computer
4. Try restarting your modem or router
5. Try updating your flash player
Classes are held on Sunday’s from 10:00am to 10:30am
This Sunday is Mother’s Day. Let’s make it a special day for all the congregation. Make a card to celebrate the day. Take of picture of you holding the card. Send it to Becky at: email@example.com
Let’s see if we can get a big slide show to celebrate the day.
