Lesson: Mark 11:1-11
Message: “Converging in Jerusalem”
This Sunday we head into Holy Week beginning with the parade of palms. Before that, we have our Saturday outdoor, in-person gathering at 2pm to distribute and bless the palms. We’ll take video of us waving palms together to share on Sunday, as we also wave palms together on Zoom and Facebook live. Following this brief worship service, there will be an intergenerational scavenger hunt and some time for fellowship. If you haven’t signed up yet, please do so now so that we can get a sense for how many are coming and prepare for scavenger hunt materials. You can sign up here: https://signup.com/go/YsgMCNc
For our live streamed service on Sunday we’ll have our virtual palm parade, a reading shared by our children and youth, and some special music. During the sermon time we’ll reflect on what was converging in Jerusalem during this time: the crowds who had come to worship and to celebrate the moment of God freeing the Jewish people from slavery in Egypt, Jesus coming into the city with a celebratory march, and Pontius Pilate with Roman soldiers coming in as a show of force during the Passover. All of this comes together inviting us into the complex story of God’s redemption.
We continue our worship on both Zoom and Facebook Live. For Zoom login please contact Chris at Chris@newtonchurch.org.

It would be great to share these links with your friends. Bear in mind that we cannot share the Zoom links publicly (to keep from being Zoom bombed), so please share it person to person rather than posting it on Facebook/Twitter, or other public social media. It’s fine to share the Facebook link broadly and publicly. Also, please share our Lenten devotional podcast with others to get the word out about what we are doing. We have a new episode coming at the end of the week.
