LESSON: Psalm 107
MESSAGE: “Safe Harbor”
Throughout this season of Lent we will reflect on images painted by New England artist Winslow Homer. Surely one man’s desperation on the storm tossed ship–mast broken, sharks circling–resonates with our own sense of desperation. We were spared the catastrophe of tornado this week, but we need not look far for storms in our own lives. What spiritual practices lead us to the second image by Homer, surviving the storm?
Prelude: “Herzliebster Jesu Crüger (My heart’s desire, Jesus)”
Anthem: “The Shepherd” Old Cornish canon
Meditation: “Præludium in A Minor” Düben
Postlude: “Fugue in D Minor” J. C. Bach
