LESSONS: Luke 24: 13-35
Many of us are familiar with the prayer often used for recovery groups “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference”.
We at the UPA are certainly experiencing our fair share of changes! I humbly suggest that we are experiencing more than simply change, but in fact transition. This is not only true for UPA but for also for both the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ. As the disciples on the road to Emmaus were struggling with how much had changed in a short amount of time, the come upon a “stranger” who surprises them with his knowledge of what had transpired recently. The stranger then proceeded to help them in their time of despair to remember what the real meaning of faith and the life of Jesus was about.
How do we in our day to day lives deal with change and transition. What gives us stability? I look forward to exploring these questions with you on Sunday.

Religious Education This Week
I want to thank all the students who helped make this last Sunday a powerful day. The Noah song, the Bible reading, the call to worship, the light carriers, the greeters and the offering collectors were all wonderful to behold. We are truly blessed to have such giving students. You are the best part of this Job.
Again, a really big thank you to all of our volunteers and staff that have been so helpful throughout this past school year. We can’t make this happen without you.
Also, our entire student body would like to thank those who donated to the Shoe that Grows this last Sunday. You provided us with an additional $176.11. In addition to that we had another member of our congregation offer to fund 10 additional shoes ($150). WOW. You are all wonderful. That makes a total of almost 30 pairs of shoes. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
During the summer, we will again be doing our Sticker Summer. If you attend any Sunday during the summer, please pick up a sticker for a calendar card. Get 4 stickers and you can get a prize next year.
I have some trips planned, but when I am in town, you might see me one Sunday.
To all of you, have a safe and healthy summer.
See you in the fall.
