Lesson: John 15:9-17 and I Corinthians 13:1-13
Message: For the LOVE of GOD
Can you believe that this day is finally here?! I can’t help but to imagine that God has been working on connecting us for a while now and this Sunday we will finally find one another in worship! I am humbled and honored to have been afforded the privilege of candidating before all of you. And I look forward to imagining with you, how we might be church together for the sake of this UPA community, the community that is Newton, and even for the world!
This Sunday we will hear Jesus’ and Paul’s words on Love. Both scriptures will be familiar to you though possibly from a different context. Beginning with the realization that God’s love is eternal for all of Divine creation, we’ll wonder about how that love affects us, our actions, and our being. And THEN we’ll consider how God’s love works through us to transform the world. Indeed, it is a great calling to be followers of Christ, especially in this world we are living that sees the individual as most valuable and so encourages us to build ourselves up on the backs of one another. However, Christ tells us a different story.
Join me this Sunday as we hear this story and celebrate the part United Parish of Auburndale plays in such DIVINE LOVE!
Peace and Grace,
Prelude: “Yes, God is Real” Kenneth Morris
Meditation: “Assurance” Pheobe Knapp
Postlude: “Voluntary on Bach’s ‘Prelude in C’ ” arr. LeVines
Rock Band: “Great Things”
Special Music: “Eucharistica” Pablo Casals
Congregational Meeting & Vote
As part of candidate week, Rev. Cheryl Kerr will join us for worship on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at which time she will be presented as a candidate to the UPA community. Immediately following the service, the UPA will have a congregational meeting and vote to affirm Rev. Kerr’s candidacy. This congregational meeting and vote will take place both in person at the UPA and online (via the same Zoom link used for worship). We hope everyone can attend.
