Lesson: Jonah 3:1-5,10 and Mark 1:14-15
Message: “Good news needs a change of heart”
I know that many of us are anxious about what will be happening today at our nation’s capital. I will be in prayer today for the change of leadership in our country as well as praying for each of us – that God might meet us where we are. May we find a spirit that moves us ultimately to justice and peace. The Southern New England Conference of the UCC has a prayer today for the inauguration shared by our new Conference Minister, Rev. Darrell Goodwin. You can find that here: https://www.sneucc.org/
This Sunday we continue in the season of Epiphany, and we move from revelations about Jesus’ person and purpose, to what we do with the good news that God gives us. Our two texts highlight that with this good news comes a change in heart. We’ll focus on the story of Jonah, a book that is more like a comedic satire than what we are used to wrestling with in the prophets. I hope that this will be illuminating for us in this time of many changes as we look for the good news that God might have for us.
You can join us for Sunday’s service via Zoom and Facebook Live. For Zoom login please reach out to Chris at email@example.com
