Lesson: Psalm 147
Message: “The Invitation in Hallelujah”
This Sunday we are gathering on Zoom for our Annual Meeting. It feels awkward to do this online as this meant to be a gathering of the church embodied! We celebrate communion on this day as well, a sign that while we are all individuals we are each profoundly connected. I am thankful, however, for the ways that we have been able to connect with each other from a distance, and I trust that our Annual Meeting will still have some of the spirit and flavor from previous years, and still represent us as a congregation even while we’re not sitting together at tables to share in food and fellowship around the edges of our worship gathering and meetings.
I am also hopeful that we are approaching a shift in where we are in regards to the pandemic. We’ve been doing this for a while, and it’s getting old. I think we’re ready for the next thing, for the Spring to come, for the vaccines to be distributed, for gatherings to happen. It will begin in small ways. Our annual meeting is a step towards that. I’m glad for the way that Boards and Committees have worked together to adjust during this time, and there will be other waves of adjustment in the weeks and months ahead. UPA is in a good place to make these changes. You can read the Annual Report that is linked in the next block.
You can join us for Sunday’s service via Zoom and Facebook Live. For Zoom login information please contact Chris at Chris@newtonchurch.org.

Please share this information with anyone who might be interested in tuning in. Calling all photographers:
We see all the pictures you add to Facebook. We scour the internet for a glimpse of your faces. We would love to share some during the beginning of worship during the slide show.
If you have some pictures you would like to share with our congregation please send them to Becky Connor at email@example.com.
Lent begins early this year, starting with Ash Wednesday on February 17. Mark your calendars. We’ll have a touch-free, drive-through option for receiving ashes and a blessing at lunchtime, starting at noon, followed by a livestreamed service at 7pm. Look for more details in our next Eblast.
