Lesson: Exodus 3:1-15
Message: “Who am I?”
This week we will continue in our experiment to have worship via Zoom. It did feel really good last week to see you all and hear from you during worship. I hope that you had a similar experience! Obviously, we continue to work out some of the technical kinks in this. I look forward to feedback from you with your thoughts. Of course, I know that this isn’t the same as gathering in person. We have people working on some plans for safe in-person gatherings in the fall. I’m excited for what that will look like. I miss seeing each of you!
Our scripture this week continues the “origin story” of Moses. We will follow Moses up Mount Horeb as he meets God in the burning bush. Typically, an analysis of this text revolves around who God is in the story. Moses asks God for a name that he should give the people in reference to who sent him. God’s response is the cryptic – “You shall say to the Israelites, I AM has sent me to you”. But there’s another interesting question about identity that gets overlooked. Moses asks, “who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” The question of “who am I?” is an interesting one for us to ask. “Who am I” that God might hear my prayers? “Who am I” to have a relationship with God? “Who am I” to do the work of God in the world? We’ll take a look at these questions in worship on Sunday.
To join us via Zoom please reach out to our office at firstname.lastname@example.org or if you would rather watch on Facebook, but not participate in the Zoom meeting you can join us, as usual for our worship on our Facebook Live page (https://www.facebook.com/
Please share posts and worship links with each other and with your friends. Thanks for being patient with the tech glitches from last week. We’ll do our best to smooth that out and make this a worshipful experience.
Blessings and peace to you all,
This week Pei-Chun Lin will be playing for us during worship and will be joined by Christine Yuan from Chinese Bible Church of Greater Lowell.
