Join Us

The church is often called the “Body of Christ.”  We are a diverse patchwork of people gathering here for worship and work, study and play, yet we have a shared interest in the common good.  We are united into one body.

On any given Sunday, you will find UPA filled with people who are new visitors, regular attendees, and Members.  While we are more concerned with participation than titles, we encourage people to become more fully engaged in the Body of Christ and activities at UPA.

If you are interested in learning more about being active in life at the UPA, please be our guest on the last Sunday of the month in an orientation to learn more about our worship, work, study, and play.

Becoming a Member

For those who want to get more involved, we offer three steps to becoming a member.

1

Be Connected

Be informed and stay connected through our weekly “Together” e-news, delivered on Thursday morning.

2

Make UPA Your Church Home

Newcomers who have shared in three or four UPA gatherings often tell us they feel “at home” here and want to keep coming.  They are starting to feel like part of the family, and that’s great!  We want to know people better, so we ask newcomers to respond to three questions:

  • When and why did you first attend United Parish of Auburndale?
  • Why have you returned?
  • What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Are you ready to declare UPA your church HOME?  If yes, we would like to introduce you during a Sunday service so that we can get to know you better.  Contact Pastor Cheryl!

3

Become A Member

After attending orientation, newcomers and those who have declared UPA their church home are invited to join other newcomers for a home-cooked meal and conversation about “membership.”  At that point, if you are ready, you can become a Member of the UPA signaling your commitment to walk with us and work with us in our Spiritual journey.

We are members of the United Methodist Church or the United Church of Christ, depending on our history and our sense of connection with one or the other.  Our membership vows express our affinity for one family or the other, however we are all part of one Protestant family in one Christian body!

We are members together with a diverse body of people, so our membership vows express a promise to offer and receive care to others within the body.

If you feel ready to make this commitment to UPA, please Contact Pastor Cheryl!
